Tessa's Take

It's Friday night and The Sea Nymph had a rockin line up! First up was Finnegan Faith! I have written about Fin before, he is new (again) to SL music and he was spot on tonight! He was running a lil late, so when he arrived he started right in with his soulful voice. The crowd gathered to catch his 30 minute set, cheering him on with each great tune. He finished up with his usual flair, making us smile. I can honestly say we all enjoyed his set and look forward to having back again soon! At 6pm he passed the reigns to Sojurn Rossini. We didn't know it, but it was Soj's rezday! Halfway through his set someone mentioned it and we all started with the well wishes. I think Soj was more surprised then the rest of us lol. He gave us some gritty covers of the hottest in SL music. One of the coolest things about Soj is that he also broadcasts on video so you can watch him sing as well as listen. I really had a great time and at the top of the hour Soj asked if he could continue singing...who would say no lol So at this moment, 30 minutes past the hour we are all still here enjoying this wonderful musician! Happy Rezday Sojurn! Thank you for an awesome Friday night!!!Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hi My Friends, today's blog is not going to be the usual fare. I am sad to say that SL has lost someone near and dear to the music community. Doc Firecaster, a wonderful singer, songwriter and musician was taken from us Wednesday morning. While performing in SL Tuesday he became ill and was taken to the hospital. Sadly, he didn't come home. I met Doc at The Audio Union, where he dazzled us all with his soulful voice and musical talents. I had the pleasure of speaking with him several times and found him to be one of the nicest people in my SL. His beloved, KatRose Serendipity, has sent out a notecard to his friends and fans and she is planning a memorial for him at her venue, The Kat Rose Secret Garden of Live Music, if you would like to pay your respects. In time, she will have a vendor with his music and all proceeds will go to a memorial fund so the cd he dreamed of making , and sent her artwork for is produced in RL. She asks that we help her keep Doc's music alive in our hearts.

Tessa's Take

Happy Over The Hump Day! I spent a lot of time in RL today and I was worried about having someone to blog about tonight. I needn't have worries, as I have wonderful friends always keeping an eye out for new talent for me! Soon after logging in tonight I received a TP from a good friend to hear Idella Quandry. She was playing at The Drunken Drow, one of my favorite places. She was singing when I arrived and the first thing I noticed was the smoky quality to her voice. I really like it when I can pick the right word off the bat. She did an awesome cover of Sitting on the Dock of the Bay! She has a very relaxed style, perfect for songs like that. I checked out her profile and wow the girl has it going on! Self described as a, "Progressive blogger, musician and author Alicia Morgan -Last Left Turn Before Hooterville" She has written a book available in world and performs in SL and RL! here is the link to her blog, check it out!http://lastleftb4hooterville.blogspot.com I loved the show, as did my friends. I know she is someone to keep an eye on, so when you are looking for a good smooth listen, look up Idella! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hey There! It's Tuesday and a TAU night!!! Wow we had quite the crowd! It was great to see all the venue's represented! We started our night out with Covenant Wylder, this was his second visit with us and he didn't disappoint! He sang some very cool originals and finished off with Black Velvet, one of my favorites. He has the distinction of having sung the most songs in his 15 minutes, way to go Cov! Up after Cov was Phoenix Gerhadsen. I had never heard her before, but I had seen her name in search quite a bit. Her first song was in my top 10 old faves, Big Spender, and she rocked it! Her voice was strong and clear, and she maintained her composure even as her SL crashed, the sign of a true professional. Our third performer was unable to come so Billy Mikoyan agreed to take the slot. It was a real treat. Billy is an awesome listen! The crowd was in awe as he rocked us out, going a touch over his time, he was so into it! We waved goodbye to Billy and welcomed a new SL performer to the stage, Icky Flux. He was another surprise performer and we were so glad he could make it on such short notice. Icky sang with a sweet soft voice, entertaining us with his accent (British I think) and we were all singing along with him too! Thanks so much Icky!! Following Icky was RB Hamelin. RB has been with us before so I was anxious to hear him tonight, and I was not disappointed! He did all originals, and they were awesome to say the least! I look forward to catching more of RB's shows, he rocks! Our last performer of the night was Chapman Zane. I had the pleasure of hearing him earlier this week and was looking forward to hearing more. He gave us some really great songs and a really cute original too! I totally plan to hear him again soon. The night was a great success, we had such a wonderful turn out, thanks to all that came!

Tessa's Take

Good Morning! Monday arrived and I found myself awake and in search of some good music. It was early so the choices were limited. Then I remembered Guthries, there is always someone playing there in the mornings! True to form 6am brought JoAnn Diavolo to Guthries stage. Her first song was Stand By Me, her sweet voice with a hint of smoke made the song absolutely lovely. She is from Poland and her soft voice and cute manner made the show enjoyable. I would call her style folk based, easy to listen to. She does originals and covers and according to her profile, tours Europe regularly. I definitely enjoyed the set, here's hoping you do too! Tessa's Take

Hello Everyone! It's a gentle Sunday here on SL. I found myself at the reopening of The Hummingbird Cafe. When I arrived I was thrilled to see so many people I knew. Max Kleene was just taking the stage. It turns out the Hummingbird was the first show he ever did way back when. It was nice to hear the nostalgia in his voice as he sang some of the songs he sang that first day. It was a wonderful half hour. Following Max was one of the owners of The Hummingbird, DimiVan Ludwig. I had never heard him play and it was quite a treat. He sang beautifully but what touched me the most was how he talked of the old Cafe, his friends and the prospects for the new place. His love for SL music and The Hummingbird in particular were so evident in his voice, his songs and his manner. I was touched and honored to have been here. Keep an eye out for Dimi and shows at The Hummingbird, I think you will be pleased. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Good Afternoon My Friends! I had RL today, why do we constantly have to go there? I should write a blog about that sometime lol. Anyway, when I logged in I checked the search listings, as I always do, and a name jumped out at me, Buckley Moonwall. I am sure many, if not all of you have been to a Buckley show, but I just had to write about it today. When you go to see a Buckley show the first thing you notice is his amazing musical ability, the second thing you notice is his soft spoken manner. You just know he is the kind of guy to take his hat off indoors and to stand for a lady on the bus. He sang some of the coolest covers today, but my favorite was his original Buckley Sue! Oh gosh, he makes a whole deal of it, acting all emotional before beginning the song, and then he starts to sing about his sad childhood....and his dad...and you are sooo hooked, request the song, you won't be sorry! I loved it! Buckley puts on a great show, he has been getting some attention in RL (yeah I know) and you better catch him quick, he's on the rise! Wooohooo it's Friday! I can't be happier that the weekend has arrived! Tonight was a Sea Nymph night, and we had a rockin show! First up at 7pm was Harrison Digfoot. If you have read my blog you have already heard of Harri, if not....look him up :-) He played a rockin guitar and omg the harmonica! The crowd grew with each song and we danced a blue streak! I really liked the covers he chose tonight and he was his usual soft spoken self between songs. Thank you Harrison for an awesome show! At 8pm Maximillion Kleene took the stage for an hour of perfection. The crowd reached epic proportions for The Sea Nymph, so many people there I doubt I greeted them all! Max sang all of our favorite tunes including one for me, I Don't Want To Lose You Yet. We all had a blast dancing and chatting, it was a great night aboard ship! Thanks Max! Check back aboard the Nymph next week for Finnegan Faith and Sojurn Rossini!!Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hey Everyone! I took a break from SL music for the most part today to enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation. I thought I would just name a few people from past blogs you should keep your eye out for. So, here goes, Turner Harbrough, Cranston Yordstorm, Finnegan Faith, Mapoo Little, Lexie Luan, Kiaranne Flanagan, Taunter Goodnight, Maximillion Kleene, Harper Messmer, Digby Smalls, Phoenix Galdonaldo, Harrison Digfoot, Raspbury Rearwin and Criss Fredriksson. There are many more to check out, and I will resume my search of the grid tomorrow. Take some time to check these wonderful talented people out, and if you do, let me know about it, drop me a line, send me an IM or just make a comment here on the blog. Hope your travels are amazing! Tessa's Take!

Well People, tonight was one for the books. I was on hand for the debut of an awesome new SL vocalist! His name is Criss Fredriksson, and he rocked the house tonight! The crowd that gathered was in for a special treat when Criss took the stage. He spoke in a soft voice, gentle even, and then he began to sing and OMG the boy can sing!!! He hails from Chile and has an awesome accent that in itself was fun to hear. His covers of The Eagles, Crowded House , Simply Red , Journey, Foreigner, John Waite , Poison, Restless Heart, Jimmy Harnen and Mr. Big were right on target and his final song, Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman, was incredible. He sang with such feeling, I think everyone there was touched. I guarantee you will enjoy his sound, so look him up in search and catch a show soon! Might even catch me there! Tessa's Take!

What a gorgeous day it is today! I wanted to give everyone a heads up on the soon to be released Imagine Magazine's 3rd edition. Some of you may know, I have begun to write for the music section of the magazine, and this month I was honored to be able to do an interview with CraigLyons Writer. It was my first ever interview and though I was nervous, I think it went pretty well. Craig is very environmentally conscious and it was great to learn a little about his motivations and goals. I hope you get the chance to check out the magazine upon it's release and look out for Craig's newest video release due out May 1st! Tessa's Take!

Monday is here! I was so busy this weekend, so today I decided I would relax and just enjoy the day. Then my friend Loegan said, "Go hear Adrienne Deezul" What was I going to say, no? Of course not, so off I went to The Pond Venue. The first thing that struck me was the awesome strings this girl plays. Her talent does not end there though. She also has an amazingly edgy and deep voice. It was such a change from the typical SL fare and I really enjoyed it. She did covers of Billy Idol and Alanis Morrisette that were just dead on awesome! Her originals were gritty and hot, it was an excellent listen! I think you will definitely enjoy an hour with Adrienne, but catch her early, she lives in Germany, so her shows are typically SL morning and early afternoon. Tessa's Take!

What a nice Sunday afternoon! I have been working nonstop this weekend, so when my good friend Joonie asked if I wanted to hear some nice folk music, I said YES! I stopped what I was working on and took the tp. I arrived at FairChang Wharf to the sweet sound of Lyn Carlberg. Now that name is familiar to me but I couldn't say if I had heard him sing before or just saw the name come up in search. He is from Wales, and his accent is lovely. He sang some beautiful ballads, his soft clear voice was a pleasant retreat for me after the long day I had. He sang an incredibly calm version of I Want To Know What Love Is. His style is gentle and sweet, you just want to sit with that special someone and cuddle while he sings. He even wears a tag that says Folky-Mushy....It was an easy listen and I know I will do it again! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

It's Saturday night and I am standing at The Pocket listening to the tail end of an awesome concert! As I mentioned in my earlier blog, tonight there was a big RFL event being held here. Tyrehl Byk put on an awesome particle show for a packed house. We all had to remove AO's and scripted items to try and reduce lag. The show was a huge hit! Everyone was in awe, I personally have seen the show at least five times and it was still so amazing. When the show ended we all made our way to a platform where we donned parachutes with various types of particle emitters. We all took turns jumping off, floating thru the air, particles trailing behind us. It was a total blast! When everyone landed Maximillion Kleene and Raspbury Rearwin took the stream and entertained us for the next hour with some really fun songs and playful banter. The little white kiosks were buzzing as everyone tossed their spare lindens in to help fund cancer research. It was a show well worth the lag, and a cause worth our help.
I think everyone there enjoyed it, and lots of lindens were raised for RFL!!

Good Afternoon! The Live music scene explodes today as it does every weekend with tons of awesome shows every hour. None of us can possibly make it to all of them, nor should we try, but there is one show I know I will be attending and I want to tell you about it. Tonight at 8pm SL time Maximillion Kleene and Tyrehl Byk will be doing an awesome event to benefit RFL. At 8 Tyrehl will be performing his incredible Particle Phantasmagora Performance. If you have not had the chance to attend one of these amazing particle shows, now is the time to do it. Immediately following the show Max will be taking the stream and Tyrehl will be passing out particle parachutes to all. This promises to be the largest mass particle parachute jump in SL history! Everyone will land at The Pocket, a great Live Music venue here in SL, to enjoy an hour of the Superb song stylings of Maximillion Kleene. RFL kiosks will be placed all around for your donations. I don't normally tell of upcoming events in SL, but when something special like this is going to happen, I want all my friends to know about it! Tessa's Take!

Good Morning! It's a beautiful day in SL, as it always is, and I am sipping something warm as I write. Yesterday was a busy one for me, a very good thing, and by the time I made it to my last show of the night I was exhausted. I waited til this morning to write about my good friend Raspbury's show, so that I could give it the attention it deserves without my bed calling to me...loudly, I might add lol. Raspbury Rearwin has been involved with SL music for a good long while. His talents include, but are not limited to, playing guitar, piano and even drums. He often switches from one instrument to another during his shows and always makes it fun. The thing I like best about Raspy is that he doesn't take himself too seriously, he is willing to do the fun songs like Genie in a Bottle, his covers are usually unique, check out his cover of The One That I want, and his originals touch people's emotions. He is an unassuming performer who every so often, at least once a show, whispers, driving the girls wild. He has a way of making his fans comfortable and enjoys the give and take from chat. I have always enjoyed Raspbury's shows and last night he sang a song just for me, sooo, of course it was my favorite so far lol. If you haven't heard him yet, or if it's been awhile, check him out, maybe I'll see you there! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Yay! It's Friday! For most of us that means the start of the weekend, I for one have been waiting for the weekend big time! I spent the day learning about the bunny industry in SL so when I got the TP to go hear Jase Branner...well, let's just say I took it and ran! Jase has been around SL for quite awhile. He has a great following of ardent fans, his soft spoken voice and easy manner keep them coming back again and again. I arrived at the Truthball Cafe to Jase's gentle voice singing a Blue Rodeo cover. He did a great job on it, but what is so cool about Jase is that right after, he did a Johnny Cash song...how many performers can transition like that? Jase has a way of chuckling between songs and chatting with the audience that makes everyone feel relaxed. He is a people pleaser and when a song is requested he hasn't learned yet, he does his best to accommodate with one he does know, all the while keeping that soft demeanor, you just know he is smiling. I have enjoyed every set I have had the pleasure to catch and I'm sure you will too. Check him out, you'll be glad you did. Check the player soon for one of Jase's songs too! Tessa's Take! on Carmel and KatRose aboard Sea Nymph

It's Thursday! To be more specific, the third Thursday of the month and that means Carmel Daines and KatRose Serendipity live aboard The Sea Nymph! Carmel arrived early, dressed in the prettiest frock, she just looked like spring. Her lovely voice was in rare form tonight. The audience steadily grew as she sang and by the time she was halfway through her set we had a nice crowd. Carmel has a very unique mix of new and old songs peppered with really cool originals. She chatted with the audience in her easy way and a great time was had by all! KatRose was up next, taking the stage with her usual flair. I have been to many of Kat's shows and I always hear something new. She sang some fun songs, told some really cute stories and just generally enjoyed herself as we enjoyed her performance. Kat's voice is deep and throaty and lends itself perfectly to the songs she chooses. I look forward to seeing both these wonderful musicians back with us next month! Tessa's Take! on Harper Messmer

Happy Wednesday! I had a very busy morning in RL, that weird place we sometimes find ourselves, and only found my way back to SL late this afternoon. I was just finishing up my closet surfing when I got a TP from a friend to go to WiseGuys to hear Harper Messmer. I don't know about you, but, I am not about to pass up an opportunity to hear Harper. I have been listening to him for a long time now, ever since I was TP'd to one of his welcome back shows amidst about 60 adoring fans. He is still drawing them in all these months later. I really like the style he has, so laid back, so smooth. Someone once said to me, "doesn't he have the smoothest voice...hear it?" I have to say, yes, yes he does. His song list is full of so many tried and true favorites, but he mixes in some unique covers and really beautiful originals. A Harper Messmer show is guaranteed to be entertaining, his soft spoken manner, anecdotes and between song chats are fun, and you can hear the mirth in his voice when he talks of TP wars LOL. If for some odd reason you have not heard him, or if you are new to the SL music scene I highly recommend you check him out. SL music wouldn't be the same without him. Tessa's Take!

Hey Everyone! Guess what tonight was? That's right it was a TAU night!!! The Audio Union opened it's doors (well, we have no doors but you know what I mean) for another great lineup! The group grew slowly but midway through we had a rockin crowd. First up was Cabernet Oliveiri. I had the chance to hear Cabernet's cd earlier this month and it was great so I was excited to hear him live. He did an awesome 15 minutes, I think everyone enjoyed it. TerryLynn Melody took the stage next and performed three of her original tunes including my favorite, Here Comes Trouble. She has such a cool style and sang with so much emotion, it was an awesome set. The third musician was unable to attend so thankfully Takezau Abbot was in the audience and he agreed to fill in. What an awesome fill in! We all enjoyed his time on stage and look forward to seeing him again soon! Ariel Franchini was up next and was in superb form. We rocked to his tunes and sadly waved goodbye as his 15 minutes ended. AJ REYES was up next and gave us some interesting covers and a first ever performed original tune. We were so lucky to be the first to hear it. Thanks AJ! Next up was the awesome Music Oxygen. He rendered us speechless with his beautiful strumming and soft sweet voice. Needless to say, the crowd was relaxed and calmed by his lovely song stylings. Last but not least was Jukebox Diesel. I had never heard Juke before and I was told by some of the audience that he was awesome. They were right! I enjoyed the 15 minutes and made a mental note to check a full set of his soon! Well, thats the rundown on TAU for tonight, look for a regular blog tomorrow, and catch some of these awesome musicians in your music travels. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Yay it's Monday! Ok, Monday sucks, I know, but the best we can do is travel the grid and find some good music. I searched the various engines and caught both Turner Harbrough at Tantalus and Lexie Luan at The Edge. Two great shows. I floundered a bit after Lexie, but then, thanks to the SL Live Music group, I got a notice that EricSampson Swansong was playing in New Brighton. I took the taxi and found my way to the show. New Brighton is a great sim, worth a look even without Eric, but with Eric it was a must see. Eric is a musician who started in SL playing with CraigLyons Writer. He has recently started a solo career in SL and has been hitting the grid with force. He did a really great cover of Steal My Kisses, his voice fitting it perfectly. I found the listen very enjoyable, he was able to switch moods easily to match each song and his chat between songs was fun and friendly. Check him out, he has that certain something that will make you want to come back again and again. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Welcome to another beautiful Sunday! Lot's of shows on the grid today, and really, the choices are great! I settled on Finnegan Faith's show to start off. He was singing at The Grotto Club, a really cool venue, especially when set to midnight. Fin began right on time with some cool tunes perfect for a lazy Sunday. He has a very sexy aspect to his voice and an adorable personality. The crowd grew with each song, and every time he looked up he was surprised lol. He did an awesome rendition of Keep Bleeding, I really enjoyed it. I would definitely catch a show if I were you, he doesn't play all that often, so keep an eye out for him, maybe I'll see ya there! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Hey Boys and Girls! Something very special and exciting happened tonight. Maximillion Kleene was performing his last show of the night at The AllStars Home Expo. It was also the last show of a long and wonderful all day event featuring some of SL's best performers. Relay For Life was the charity of the day. Towards the end of his set, Max decided he was going to continue to play until the goal of one million linden was reached. He began calling on his friends. Awesome SL musicians Stella Silvansky and Raspbury Rearwin were rehearsing when they got the "call" and quickly agreed to join in. Soon two more fantastic SL'ers were streaming too, Beth Odets and Harper Messmer. Five wonderful people, pitching in for Relay For Life. When all was said and done, the fab five raised over one million lindens in a marathon of music! Let's hear it for these guys and their commitment to RFL and the community! Tessa's Take!

Guess what! It's Friday!!! I don't know about you but I am thrilled for this week to end! I had scheduled some live music for The Sea Nymph and of course that meant I would be there tonight. The first act cancelled and I frantically tried to find a replacement earlier this week. Thanks to Lingual Markus I was able to schedule TerryLynn Melody for the 5pm hour. She was so friendly and sweet, and to even make things better, she brought in an awesome harmonica player, Dixon Picket, to accompany her. The show was great! It really felt like we were all sitting in her living room enjoying some good, down home music. Her mom was in the audience, her fans were just amazing, and we all had a great time! I especially love her original Here Comes Trouble, a really cool and fun tune I have heard several times. If you get the chance, ask her what the story is behind it, was a cute listen. Check TerryLynn out soon, I might even see ya there!

At the top of the hour Shannon Oherlihy took the stage. Now, for those not familiar, Shannon is a very folksy singer with an absolutely haunting voice. Her originals are sometimes sad, often sentimental and always lovely. One of the guests aboard The Sea Nymph tonight commented on how you just had to slow dance when listening to Shannon as her sweet tones and gentle manner were perfect for that style of dance. While Shannon performs covers and has an extensive song list, it is her originals that bring people back again and again. If you have some time and want to hear the beauty of words sung with heartfelt meaning, check Shannon out. I think you will be glad you did. Tessa's Take!

Hey Guys! It's Thursday, in case anyone has forgotten, that means just one more sleep til the weekend! I thought you would be excited lol. SL has a lot to offer in the live music scene today. Each hour is chock full of names, making it hard to choose where to go. I decided to hit a few names that were new to me. My first stop was Tranquil Commons to hear Kiaranne Flanagan. What a pretty voice she has! She was singing an original when I arrived, very folk based and sweet. She says in her profile she is "Creator of stuff, artist, musician, singer, songwriter, accoustic guitarist." Her cover of Annie's Song was absolutely beautiful. She does a very relaxing set, I found myself feeling quite a bit calmer just from being there. I enjoyed the set and I think you might too, so give her a listen :-)Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Happy over the hump day! Wednesday's are always a fun day in Live Music, every musician mentions the hump day with glee...helping us all look toward the coming weekend. One of the things I love most about SL music is the energy and, well, simple pleasure the performers exude during their sets. I can't find a better example of that, than the set I just caught at Romantic Island. TJ Oanomochi was on the stage singing some of the smoothest music to soothe even the most restless of souls. Her version of Come Away With Me by Norah Jones was quite literally breathtaking. TJ sang with such emotion, her passion for performing clearly evident. I scanned her profile and learned she is a professional RL singer. Her profile was very understated compared to her bio and write ups. She has performed with some of RL's best and continues to tour, bringing her soulful voice to SL when she is able. She was fun, bubbly and very friendly during her set. I thoroughly enjoyed her style and plan on catching her again soon! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

It's a beautiful Tuesday morning and I am feeling very thankful. So, I wanted to take a moment and thank the wonderful SL musicians and vocalists who have helped me get the word out about my blog. First is my dear friend Max Kleene, not only did he immediately offer me his support, he also took the step to follow my blog, and gave me the opportunity to post the URL during his shows. He was the very first to give me a song to add to the player. Thank you Max, you're the absolute best! Next is Raspbury Rearwin, he provided me with tech support (everyone knows how much I needed that lol) and 2 beautiful songs, thanks sweet Raspy! Mapoo Little, a new friend, was so excited about the blog she posted the URL to her groups AND put it on her myspace, thanks so much Mapoo!! A special thanks to the amazing artists who gave me their music to add to the player, AMFORTE Clarity, Digby Smalls, Cranston Yordstorm, Taunter Goodnight, Jazzman Correia and Phoenix Galdonaldo! Last but not least I want to thank my friend Turner Harbrough, he was the vocalist I first blogged about, the first person I showed the blog to, and without his enthusiasm I may have just stopped right there. Turner makes a point of telling his audiences about the blog every time I attend a show and for that I am truly grateful. I have received such kind words and such support from my friends, Thank you to Joonie who has been telling me to start a blog for months, thanks to Lady and Patrick who have given me so much support and who spread the word daily about the blog, thank you to Adelle who visits the blog often for the awesome tunes, thank you to all the people kind enough to click follow and to all of you that visit. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

It's Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, I know I did. I signed into SL early today for a meeting, fortunately the meeting was postponed and I had some free time. I scanned search and found the choices pretty slim, I ventured to a few places where karaoke seemed to be the theme of the day, until I found my way to Club Atlantic. Taunter Goodnight was onstage, and while she is admittedly a track singer, she is far from your typical karaoke singer. She was covering a Jason Mraz song when I arrived, her deep and powerful voice did justice to the song, but then she did an Alanis Morrisette song and WOW, she really captured the emotions and edge of the song. I know Taunter has been around for awhile, but so have I and I had never been to one of her shows....sooo I thought there might be others who have passed on this engaging vocalists sets for whatever reason. She gave her all to her performance, mixing in comical quips and anecdotes between songs. I really enjoyed the show, I hope you guys get the chance to enjoy as well! Tessa's Take!

Happy Holiday Everyone! The bunny arrived at my house this afternoon bearing eggs and candy and mashed potatoes. My mom sure looked cute in those bunny ears :-) My family and I enjoyed a wonderful day together and now, it's time to relax, and never eat again lol.I hope to find some great shows tonight, and if I do, you know I will tell you about them. So here's to hoping your day was as sweet as mine and to good music and fine wine. Ok, so I had a few sips already, it's a holiday :-)Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Well, as I mentioned, I was going to hit some shows tonight. First stop was a Maximillion Kleene show, awesome as usual. Just as the show ended, all too soon might I add, my friend Joonie Jatho invited me to McKinney's Distillery to hear Covenant Wylder. McKinney's is an awesome newish venue with a really friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. I arrived to plenty of hello's and Cov singing a great rendition of Danny's Song. Covenant is new to the SL music scene and it was really nice to get the chance to hear him. I enjoyed his originals, he has a kind of down-home style, I could so picture him sitting on his front porch crooning away. I look forward to watching Cov grow into the SL music scene, check him out, and ask to hear Black Velvet, he rocks it! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Hey Guys! Happy Saturday! I just wanted to take a moment to bring your attention to the various Relay For Life events happening in the Live Music arena. Many wonderful SL musicians are donating their time and music to this very important cause. They don't charge for their time and also donate all their tips to cancer research. Some of these musicians can be found donating time and tips over and over. RFL is in full swing now, make it a priority to get to at least one of these events before they end and donate what you can. It really is true that every little bit helps. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Today is going to be very busy, lots of shows to catch lol. I started the evening at Sunray Beach for a Cranston Yordstorm show. Turner Harbrough suggested I have a listen, and I am glad he did. Cranston does a great swing set, and it sounds like he has an entire band backing him. I enjoyed the upbeat tunes and his energy was contagious! I was particularly taken with his version of Brandy, one of my all time favorite old tunes. I checked out his profile and learned that he does primarily Jazz, swing and blues, but I heard him sing much more than that, he even did a Monkey's tune lol! The other thing I learned from his profile is that he makes his living from SL Live Music...That's really cool! I had a great time, if you are into a fun time with a variety of styles and a great easy voice, check out Cranston! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

It's Friday! Last night I had the opportunity to watch rockstars in the making! I caught the gReefers show at Bring a Friend Stay Awhile. What a show! The four fab musicians making up the band are Max Kleene on guitar and vocals, Ictus Belford on bass, Thunder Lexington on drums and Allister Westland on lead guitar. These guys relay stream, that means they are all in different places, two in Canada and two in the US, and their streams are sent through the channels till the four streams are broadcast as one. The really incredible thing is that the musician with the first stream can't hear anyone else and each musician can only hear the person behind them on the stream. What the audience hears is all the musicians at the same time, how they keep it all in sync is just baffling. These guys get together and practice, add songs as often as they can and do their best to entertain. Last nights show was off the charts awesome! The crowd was so excited, the band members were in total Rockstar form, leading off with a couple Floyd tunes and then slowing it down with their breathtaking rendition of Harvest Moon, before rocking out the night. The guys graciously took us well past the hour, and even then, fans were begging for more. The band won't play again til April 22nd so mark your calendars and catch the gReefers show, you won't be sorry. I'll see ya there! Tessa's Take!

Happy April everyone! Today is that notoriously naughty day where everyone tries to fool each other. My mother, the dear sweet thing, has called me twice with wild stories about lost theatre tickets and crazed green haired siblings. I was going to do a few write ups today but I figure, it's April Fools day, who will believe me today lol. So have a wonderful day and back to the music blogs tomorrow.
