Tessa's Take

Tonight was another installment of AVATAR WARS!!!! The competition is held at the SeaChel Sim...owned by Chely Lock. Chely hosts this event periodically. It was originally the brain child of Max Kleene, one of SL's most loved and well known musicians. They work together to bring all the fun of AVATAR Wars to you! 5K was put on the block for the most unique or outrageous avatar. The competition was tough, players changing their avatars over and over trying to one up the next person. Max gave a running commentary between songs, mentioning the different avatars and who was in the lead. Everyone enjoyed scoping out the cool and unusual costumes. I am sure I can't name every costume/avatar there but some that caught my attention were the Stay Puff Marshmallow man, a preying mantis, the entire Simpson family, a dragon and even an adorable koala! As the hour began to wane, the competition was heating up! Particles were flying everywhere! I think the most "interesting" avatar would have to be Raspbury Rearwin when he became a giant pink vibrator...the crowd went wild lol. At the end of the night Max chose the winners...Joesf Fitzpatrick, Duncan Ramer and Thus Yootz all split first place....The Simpson Family and Kitty Kozlov took second place and honorable mention was given to Rasp and the giant vibrator!!! Chely and Max did an awesome job and the night was absolute fun!!!Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hi, I know, it's been too long...sorry, sometimes emotions can get the better of you and it's all you can do to breathe. I was still learning to breathe when a friend brought me to hear someone new. Let me just say it would have taken someone extraordinary to cause me to write again....and here I am. Her name is Samm Qendra! She was playing at Solar Winds and I arrived to the most beautiful voice. Her style is hard to peg, but I will go out on a limb and call her soulful. Her rendition of The Scientist gave me chills it was that good. I was truly impressed, moved to write after so long, so if you are in search of something beautiful and entertaining, look up Samm. I guarantee you won't be disappointed! Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Good Morning. This week Second Life and the world lost a very special person. Lady Hightower tragically passed away, leaving behind a loving family and friends. SL live music will miss Lady, a well known and loved member of the community. Her laughter and love of live will forever be with me. When someone so dear leaves this world it can be hard to accept, to understand. I welcome any stories you might have to share, comments etc. Lady urged me to believe in myself and my abilities and now I urge you all to do the same. Well, it's early afternoon and I have been venue hopping. I stopped by Guthries for AcousticEnergy Nitely's set and from start to finish I was entertained. AE is usually laid back, but today he was doubly so and it made for a nice relaxing hour of cool tunes and gentle chat. I enjoyed both his originals and his covers. I brought a friend along and she was blown away! She is a hard one to impress and she couldn't stop gushing over his sweet voice. So, if you have not had the chance yet, look up AcousticEnergy Nitely, maybe I'll see ya there!Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Good Morning! Last night I got the chance to catch an RB Hamelin show. Have you? Wow, he has an amazing voice, clear and strong. His set consists mostly of country style songs, but he throws in a few other genres as well. I was really impressed with his originals, very well done and enjoyable. His cover of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was awesome! I plan to catch another show soon, hope to see you there!Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Happy Weekend Everyone! I was searching the grid for some good music tonight when I caught Rara Destiny's name listed for Key West. I realized I had not heard her in awhile, so I hopped over just in time to catch the end of Warm Whispers, one of my fave songs. Rara has a very sultry voice and she knows how to choose the right songs to showcase that. Nothing proved that point more than her final song, Summertime, done sans guitar. I was blown away by her soulful rendition. If you have by some odd chance not heard her yet, or if you just need a good listen, check her out, definitely one of SL's best female performers! Tessa's Take

Hi! The Kasbah celebrated it's one year anniversay this evening with a huge party! The lineup was awesome! Starting the night off was Strum Diesel, a really great member of the Kasbah family. His set rocked, as usual, the crowd gathering throughout his performance. Following Strum was SweetLilly Pinelli. If you have not heard Sweet yet, you should, her name perfectly suits her musical style and voice. She gave us a lovely hour of entertainment. She passed the stage over to Phemie Alcott at the top of the hour. Phemie shared her beautiful voice and cool originals with us. Her final song on piano was enough to melt anyones heart. Up next was Rara Destiny, the very first performer to take the Kasbah stage one year ago! She led us through the hour with her sexy, soulful voice and adorable personality. Harper Messmer was waiting in the wings as Rara finished up her final song. Harper, also a longtime regular here at The Kasbah, was true to form, singing in his relaxed style. His gentle tone and easy manner were a pleasing addition to the evenings festivities. At 9pm Maximillion Kleene began his set. Max, one of Kasbah's favorite players, gave us some beautiful music before inviting Harper and Raspbury Rearwin to join him on stage. The three talented musicians entertained us with their adorbale banter and incredible musical abilities. The sim was packed, everyone who is anyone was here for the triple stream! Their renditions of "Chasing Cars" and "Haleluja" were enough to make you fall in love. When the triple stream ended, Raspbury continued for the rest of his hour. Rasp, a regular at the Kasbah was in rare form, still on a high from the triple stream. LizAday Solo, another member of the Kasbah family, finished off the night with her strong vocals and sparkling personality. The night was sponspored by Scruplz Magazine and free t-shirts and party packs were given out to all! Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Wow, yesterday was a TAU day and I spent most of the hours leading up to, and even during the auditions, scrambling for replacement artists. Why you might ask, well there were a few cancellations, but also, SL was being a bear. Several of the scheduled performers couldn't even log in! The first performer, Lexie Luan, arrived late due to that very issue, but she more than made up for it with her sultry voice and awesome originals! The second performer, Richie Whitesong took the stage and with his lovely accent and soft voice led us through the next 15 minutes sweetly. Pandora Breadbin kindly agreed to fill in for us and sang some really wonderful covers mixed with her fun personality. Pandora was followed by Jimmyt49 Dukes hitting the stage with force! His 15 minutes rocked the audience beautifully. Andie Aurotharius was last on the scheduled list and came out strong with her rendition of a Rihanna song. She did an awesome job entertaining us, but when her 15 minutes were up, some members of the audience were still needing more music. One of the guests, Dakila Lacava, very generously agreed to do a few songs to wrap things up. He was awesome and everyone agreed it was a great ending to a good but hectic TAU.Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Hi Everyone! Happy Monday! I got the opportunity to witness a great dual stream this evening. Beamer Lowtide and Gabryel Nyoki came together on the Crystal stage. Gabryel was playing electric guitar while Beamer did vocals, guitar and even some awesome tracks. The songs were incredible, the crowd was great and Gab and Beamie rocked the place! Each does a killer individual set, and I highly recommend catching a show soon, but if you hear buzz that they are going to dual again, get yourself there fast! You won't be sorry :-)Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Hey, have you heard Moses Rae? I just did, at Guthries, and what a pleasure it was :-) If you like folk music, then you will love Moses. His voice was clear and pure and the song selection was fun! Sometimes when I go to a show this early (6:00 am) I wait to blog til I am fully awake...but today, I was energized by the music and wonderful atmosphere. Guthries is just a nice place, ya know, welcoming and friendly. So if you are looking for something to do in the early or even normal hours of the morning, check out Guthries, and don't forget to look for Moses Rae the next time you hit search :-)Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Happy Thursday! I was lucky enough to catch a LizAday Solo concert this evening. She was playing the Kasbah and she was awesome! Her first song, Riders on the Storm was one of my all time favorites! She has really grown since last time I saw her! The set list rocked, her sound was great and the crowd was really feeling her vibe! I know that sounds kitchy, but, seriously she had some cool tracks and she really made the most of her vocal abilities. The set was stellar, so check her out, you won't be sorry! Hi Guys! It's late Sunday night and I am beat! I have been to so many awesome shows today, it was hard to pick one to blog about lol. I was lucky enough to be at Fashion Fest while ReallyMad Morpork was playing. He did an awesome job, his rendition of, The Blowers Daughter, was brilliant! During his set, just one tiny hour, the AllStars team raised over 130,000 Lindens! It was an amazing experience as 2 very generous people donated huge amounts, spurring others to donate as well! We were all crying, and the musician, ReallyMad...well, he was so touched and inspired, it was a beautiful thing! There really are no words to describe the emotions we felt... Fashion Fest was a huge success, raising over 3million lindens for RFL! Special thanks to everyone involved, those who donated lindens, time, talents and hearts! Hi and Happy Hump Day! I have been really busy this past week, sorry about that. Yesterday was an Audio Union day. We had an afternoon lineup, so let's get right into it! Phoenix Gerhadsen opened for us with some beautiful sweet songs. Phoenix has been to TAU before and did a great job entertaining us! Next up was Rage Citron. Wow does this guy have an act! Think Manson, but with heart....I think everyone was stunned, the original music was great and I hope you get a chance to catch him for some darker style fun. SL was acting up and our next performer, Gabryel Nyoki was unable to log in, however, true to form, Gab didn't disappoint. We plugged in his stream and he rocked us out with both the piano and guitar! It was awesome! When he was done, Dee Heslop took the stage to finish off the awesome set. She was great, giving us some really awesome acoustic work and some great vocals too! A huge thanks to all the performers and to the venue owners and booking agents that make TAU so great! Wow, tho he is using different equipment, he still sounded awesome! He has 2 CD's out, available for purchase at the shows too! He did some awesome covers ranging from Michael Buble to Carrie Underwood! The show was great, and we were all enjoying his giggling and bubbly personality. Tessa's Take

Good Morning! It's a steamy Sunday morning here, and I thought I better get my post out early before the computer fried itself lol. Today is a different kind of post, it's a RL one...I went to a concert last night, gulp, in the real world! I went to see Martin Sexton. The band opening for him was Ryan Montbleu....omg they rocked, I liked them so much I even bought the cd! They played some awesome songs, many with amusing lyrics, the lead singer wore this cute hat, it was definitely a fun time. When Martin came out, we were all excited, I had heard his music on the internet and thought he was ok, but man, live....the show was amazing! His voice was crystal clear, the range unbelievable...he even yodeled! We all agreed he should only make live recordings, his studio stuff can't touch the energy or showmanship he had last night. The dance floor was packed, and all I could think was wow, I should get these 2 guys on SL! Never know....Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

I will send the link to see the live shows as soon as I get it :-) next, I thought I would mention a few people from past blogs who are worth a second look. Turner Harbrough, he has had a run of rough luck in RL and is working hard to get back into the swing of things here in SL, he has a new CD available for purchase and a voice to die for! Phemie Alcott...a recent return to the SL live music scene and hitting it hard, catch a show soon! Mercury Madzuko...catch a show, he did TAU the other night and rocked it big time! TwinGhost Ronas will delight and entertain you no doubt about it! There are so many more, but for now, one last entry, Harrison Digfoot, he battles with stream issues, however he is an awesome listen and a great performer, so check him out! hugs!!!Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Hello Everyone, and Happy Friday!!! For the past 2 weeks I have been trying to catch a Marky Helstein show. I somehow kept missing him. This morning I happened to get a late notice that he was playing Guthries. I threw on a dress and took the ride. Marky hails from Scotland and his accent is lovely. He did some great covers, my favorite was Hey There Delilah. He cracked us up with his mid song giggles, a nice added touch. I also got to hear an original, very nice tune that really showcased his gentle voice. I would say you should definitely make it a point to see Marky, and soon! Happy Hump Day! What better way to enjoy the middle of the week than to come to Nantucket for the debut of Mandoaa Dragonash! I always enjoy Mandoaa's shows, but it's been awhile since I last heard him and wow! his sound is even better and his originals were awesome! He has this great kind of gritty voice that gives soul to his songs. Let's hope he finds the time to handle more shows! Keep an eye out if you are looking for a fun time and a great listen! Maybe you will even catch him again at Nantucket! It's Tuesday and that meant a TAU day! We had a great lineup this week! First up was Phoenix Gerhadsen. She had some technical issues at first but when she finally got rolling she was awesome! She did some great songs, check her out asap! Next up was Automatic Quandry. He has been to TAU before and it's always a great listen. He rocked us with some awesome originals tonight! Wooot I suggest finding a show of his soon. Following Automatic was Paulette Oldrich. She took over the stream smoothly and provided us with some cool tunes, her deep voice and fun style made for a nice 15 minutes! OnlyHalfCrazy Gumbo took the stage next. I had heard her, oh gosh over a year ago and wow she has really improved! her final song, Somewhere Over The Rainbow was awesome! the TAU stage was next graced by MommaLuv Skytower. She was really cool, with her innovative approach and beautiful voice. I think my next show search will include catching a full set of MommaLuv's. Last but not least we had ApeFace Mefusula. He was all decked out in a cool costume with lights shooting from his guitar. He put on a killer 15 minutes, really working the crowd up! When it was over everyone kind of just stood around...waiting....it was cool! Happy Monday! I caught a few shows today, but the highlight was Raspbury Rearwin's set at Club Caritas! it was his birthday and it was awesome to be there to celebrate with him! He did a great set, some of my favorite songs done the special Raspy way! We all had a great time singing along, chatting and listening to Rasps fun monologue. I love Rasps shows, no matter what he will entertain you, music, humor, it's all good, so get on out there and catch a Raspbury Rearwin show! Tessa's Take

It's Friday!!! I logged on early to catch some shows and I am so glad I did. I stopped by Guthries, the place for early shows to be sure, and caught Kellee Blaylock's set. I have heard Kellee before, but he sounded so different today! He was relaxed, and fun, his songs were great, even did Paper Moon! I have always been a fan, but today was like hearing him for the first time. If it's been awhile for you, catch a set, it's worth the time :-) Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

It's Hump Day! Many of us enjoy this day, knowing it brings us that much closer to the weekend. I spent a lot of time today working on making my SL the best it could be. Part of that was catching a few SL shows. I was sent a TP to hear Angelica Svenska. The first thing I noticed was how friendly she is, the second, how entertaining. The set was filled with songs I really didn't know, but, I think it's good to expand your horizons. I enjoyed hearing the new music and found Angelica to be very engaging. I encourage everyone to branch out, listen to someone or something new at least once a week, at the very least, it will remind you why you like the things you do :-)Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Happy Tuesday People! Today was an afternoon TAU day! We had an awesome lineup so let's just dive right in! First up was Adrienne Deezul, an incredible musician from New Zealand currently living in Germany. Adrienne has a very dark style, with awesome power in her voice. She does mainly originals but has been known to belt out a cover or two as well. Her 15 minutes were gritty and hot! Thanks Adrienne! Next up we had Gabryel Nyoki. If you have not heard him yet, get out there and find a show now! His gorgeous voice and excellent musical ability filled the air. Everyone was thrilled with his performance and sad to see his 15 minutes end. Last not but least was ColeMarie Soleil. Her hauntingly beautiful voice and equally beautiful song choices caught the audience off guard. Her unique style and obvious talent made for a perfect end to another great TAU day. Tessa's Take

Happy Sunday! I have been to quite a few shows today. I love how many choices there are, even if sometimes it can be overwhwelming lol. I traveled the grid and found myself at a Gina Stella show. I have been to a few shows before, usually catching a few minutes here and there, but today I had the pleasure of enjoying almost a full set. Her strong voice and excellent song list were impressive, and her friendly manner made the show fun. She also brought her daughter on to sing a few songs. She was adorable! I bet it won't be long before we see her doing her own shows! Give Gina Stella a listen, it's definitely a fun listen :-)Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

It's the weekend finally! This week has been both rough and awesome for me! I am glad to get back to some cool live music in SL. This morning I had the pleasure of catching Phemie Alcott at Rosewood. I was really touched by her cover of, To Make You Feel My Love... she has a really lovely style, adding accents that just made it hers. I enjoyed her chat between songs, her personality just engaging and fun. The show was a perfect way to wake up and I look forward to hearing her again soon, so should you :-)Thank's for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

I'm Back! So sorry for the short hiatus, but, I have something awesome for you.....her name is ColeMarie Soleil. I arrived at an RFL event, always a great cause, and was blown away. Her hauntingly beautiful voice was nothing short of incredible. One song after the other filled with emotion. I checked out her profile, she has been here even longer than I have....begs the question...how did I miss hearing her before? Don't make the same mistake...get thee to a ColeMarie Soleil show asap! I promise you won't be sorry!Thank"s for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hey Everyone! I am away from SL for a day or two, I know...RL, that scary thing people mention in passing has kicked me but good! While I can't hit the shows, I thought I would take a moment to name a few great artists that you should definitely catch. Gabryel Nyoki, Turner Harbrough, Blu Ducrot....just a few of the newer names to hit SL in recent months. Porter Paquot, Minerva Galdonaldo, Pandora Breadbin.....must sees as well! I hope you take the time to have a listen to these wonderful new SL performers, and hey, if you hear someone you think I should check out, drop me a line, send me an IM or leave me a comment right here on the blog! Tessa's Take

It's Friday Night! I was just finishing a round of venue hopping when a great friend of mine TP'd me to hear a friend of his, Putri Solo. I have to admit, I have heard the name before, and may have seen her at one point, but, I couldn't put my finger on it. I arrived just in time to hear a gorgeous rendition of Memory. Her voice is beautiful, and her accent lovely. The show was very romantic, even had a duet with Naga Lionheart. While they were using backing tracks, the vocals were amazing. If you are looking for a romantic night of love songs and dancing, this is the show. Might even catch me there sometime :-)Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hi there! Today is the third Thursday of the month and that would usually mean The Sea Nymph rundown. Unfortunately, the shows were cancelled this week. I spent some time show hopping today, heard some wonderful artists, including Taunter Goodnight, Buckley Moonwall and Criss Fredriksson. I decided, however, to devote this blogpost to a few SL musicians that need our help. KatRose Serendipity has lost all of her musical equipment in a robbery it seems. That has to be a terrible loss, especially in light of recent events. Also, Avatar Quinzet has lost all of his belongings in a devastating fire. Not to mention the many SL'ers that were affected by the recent flooding in Tennessee. Please take a moment to check out the various events dedicated to helping our SL friends and donate if you are able. Every little bit counts, even one linden adds to the total. Back to music blogging tomorrow, take care everyone! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Happy Hump Day! I had to work today, saw some awesome shows too, but, I also had a rare opportunity offered to me. My friend Beth Odets asked me if I wanted to come hear her newest song. Now, tell me who would say no to that? So I grabbed a TP and arrived just in time for Beth's new song. It was beautiful! I think this is the best one yet, and she has quite few to her credit. I am sure most of you have caught Beth dual streaming with many of SL's finest musicians. I encourage you to catch a solo show too. She has such an engaging personality, not to mention her many musical talents. Keep an eye out for a Beth Odets show coming soon to a venue near you! Tessa's Take

Happy Tuesday to everyone! So, I was lucky enough to catch a Christopher135 Quan show today. Have you been? Why not??? He is a very talented musician, a warm voice, awesome piano player and did I mention he even does originals??? The show was great, poor Chris was at a disadvantage, his SL was acting up, but ever the professional he carried on. His covers can make you melt and his originals, let's just say talent may just be his middle name. So, what are you waiting for, look him up soon, it's worth the time :-)Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Today I had an RL issue that kept me away from Live Music shows. I was left going back and forth between SL and RL for most of the day. I did however get a sneak peak at an amazing new talent. She will be hitting the airwaves soon, can't give any details except to say she has the voice of an angel! I will keep you posted for her debut! More tomorrow, I promise, sweet dreams! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

It's Sunday, and I am determined to catch as many shows as I can! I started by visiting a few of my favorites, then it was time for someone new. I hit up search and found Gabryel Nyoki. He was at Sydney's, a really great venue I love to frequent. I arrived for an awesome rendition of a Michael Buble song, Home. Man he nailed it! The next song was just as great....where has he been??? I learned that he is from Portugal, and has a very sexy accent and a sweet gentle manner. I am positive we will be hearing a lot about this one, so check him out now while there is still standing room! It won't last long! Tessa's Take

Happy Saturday! I had just logged into SL when I got an IM from Live Music Events in SL. It said..."are you NOT at BLU DUCROTS first show back???" I thought about it and realized..."Hey, why am I NOT at Blu Ducrots first show back" and I took the ride to Noteworthy. Now, I have to say I never have been to one of his shows, so the fact that he was back...didn't really tell me anything about what I had been missing. I arrived atop the head of a lovely SL'er and was greeted so warmly by some of SL's awesome managers. The first thing I noticed after touching down was the beautiful sounds coming from the stage. Blu was performing a gorgeous, never before heard original. His soft spoken voice and easy manner were, to say the least pleasing. I really enjoyed the set, he performed covers with originality and his originals were worthy of being covered! Set some time apart to catch a show soon, it's worth it!Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Good Morning! Friday was such a weird day. Nothing normal happened in any way. I waited til this morning to post for fear the weirdness would creep into my blog and forever change it to something else. Cryptic, but true. So, this morning, I will tell you about the Sea Nymph shows of last night. First up we had Untolerable Bohemian. Bo has played the Nymph before, and also TAU. He has a unique style all his own. His fans are loyal and fun. Bo was not feeling up to par yesterday, but he still gave it his all. His shows are always filled with energy, and last night was no different. Harrison Digfoot was up next. I'm sure by now most, if not all of you, know Harrison. He plays the guitar and harmonica and sings like a dream. He wowed us with some of his awesome originals, and some really cool, and unique covers. We all enjoyed his set and felt sad when it was over. I got the chance to interview Harri after the show, it was a really interesting chat. He is not only a great musician, but a really nice guy too! Tessa's Take

Well, Thursday is over, and on to the weekend! I got the chance to catch Criss Fredrikkson and Blacko Starsider doing an acoustic set at Untamed. There were plenty of crashings by the two performers, but they carried on famously. I think it was a real treat for all of us to hear Criss do vocals without the tracks. The audience grew steadily and were begging for more when the show ended. If you have not heard Criss yet, make it a point, and keep an eye out for more acoustic sets too!!Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Hey Everyone! I had a busy RL day....so I was not able to catch any shows, but I do have something interesting to share. Tomorrow night at 8pm SL time Criss Fredrikkson will be holding a special acoustic set. He and his manager, Evee Nikolaidis, brought in a friend, formerly a member of Criss's old band. They set him up with an account, named him Blacko Starsider, took him shopping for cool stuff, and now he is ready to rock! the show will be at Untamed Obsessions. Criss and Blacko will be playing covers of whitesnake, Toto, Bon Jovi, The Beatles, The Police and many more! If you have a minute, come check it out, I am sure you will see me there!!!Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

It's my rezday! I spent the day with many of my friends enjoying some of the best things in SL, Live Music and shopping! It was also an Audio Union night! We had a great lineup tonight, starting us off was Geos Copperfield. I had never heard Geos before and I was looking forward to it. He did a great 15 minutes, the audience was really into his set! Next up was Porter Paquot. I had heard great things about her and, WOW, she was awesome! The power she backs with that voice is nothing short of amazing! She sang some great songs and we were all sad when her 15 minutes ended. Seba Sideways took the stage next, giving us a great show, his sax smooth and his voice great as usual! He entertained us with his special brand of music and it was a pleasure having him back to TAU. We welcomed Antonio Galloway to the stage, a relative newcomer to SL music. I think everyone was surprised by the depth of his voice and the energy he shared with us. His version of a well known Elvis song was awesome! I look forward to catching another set soon! We bid goodbye to Anthony and welcomed Automatic Quandry. He played 3 really great originals for us. I had heard Automatic once before, and let me tell you, he just gets better and better! Our final performer of the evening was Turner Harbrough. I recently (yesterday) blogged about Turner, he graciously agreed to fill in when the last performer was unable to attend. He rocked us out, showing his versatility, singing songs from 3 different genres! It was an awesome set! Next TAU in 2 weeks, and ....Thank you to all my friends that wished me a happy rezday, and for all the gifts too! I love you guys!!! My SL would be nothing without you! Tessa's Take

Welcome to Monday! It's another gorgeous day in SL. I found myself searching for a place to go today, luckily, my friend, Turner Harbrough, was singing. Turner was the first person I blogged about, oh gosh, 6 weeks ago maybe? The blog has been doing well since then, thanks to many of the musicians I have blogged about, and I thought I would check in and see how he was doing. I arrived at the RMS Titanic just in time to hear the smooth sounds of Turner. He has added tons of new songs to his set list, giving each of them that Turner touch. I happen to know he will be in the studio next week, so keep an ear out for some new tracks and maybe even some cd's and mp3's for us! If you have not had the chance, catch a Turner Harbrough show soon, his schedule has opened up a bit so it should be easier to find him now! Tessa's Take

Happy Mother's Day! I know, not everyone IS a mother, but everyone HAS a mother, so take the sentiment, keep it for yourself or pass it along as you so desire :-) I was sitting in my tire swing, no tree attached (gotta love the miracles of SL) when I received a TP to hear someone new. I arrived just in time to hear Cailidgh Spires singing, The Climb, by Miley Cyrus. She did a great job with it, and when she was finished, she bantered with the crowd really well. I found her personality, and her singing to be enjoyable to say the least. She calls herself a singer/guitarist, her style leans more towards folk, but she is versatile. If you get a moment, check her out :-)Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

It's Saturday night!!! I relaxed all day, so this evening I decided to catch a show or 7 lol. My first stop was Kasbah (I am always there anymore) and got the opportunity to hear Dale Katscher. He was singing, Aint No Sunshine When She is Gone....not sure if that is the actual title, but that was the first line I heard and I liked it. Dale has a very soft spoken easy manner and his vocals are smooth! He has a dry sense of humor and the show was really enjoyable. He did more cool covers and some really great originals. I think it's worth your time to look him up soon! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hey Everyone, Friday night and you know what that means, Sea Nymph night! We started off the evening with Cranston Yordstorm, I have mentioned him before, a cool cat, really into the jazz and swing genre. He entertained us with some really fun covers, a few of my favorites and ended the night with It Aint Easy Being Green, all dressed up as Kermit! What a fun show it was! Our next act was unable to make it due to an RL traffic issue, what is this RL everyone keeps talking about, anyway, Keeba Tammas agreed to fill in on very short notice. I would venture to say she is one of my favorite female vocalists in SL, she has a really strong voice and has no problem singing anything and everything! She did my request for Coin Operated Boy and then hit us with, Still Loving You, an all time favorite of mine. Keeba's shows are always fun, and her bubbly personality just adds to the enjoyment, you can't help smiling when Keeba is on. At the very last minute, I was given the opportunity to have a special guest do a set at 8. Now, I am no fool, so of course I jumped at the chance. Melodee McDonell came to the Sea Nymph all dressed in blue and ready to blow us away. She sang some gorgeous love songs, and even a country song, adding a slight twang to her voice to make it fun. Her group was lovely and the music was awesome. I really had a great time, Melodee's music was very relaxing, her soft speaking voice gives no hint of the power she posesses, and she has complete control over it too. I loved the songs and the hour flew by, thank you to all the Sea Nymph talent and guests for making tonight so fun. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Well, it is late Thursday night and I am again at Kasbah. This time I am listening to Criss Fredikksen. I blogged about him a few weeks ago, his first SL show, and I wanted to check in again, and see how he was doing. He just get's better and better, his voice is like butter (not exactly sure what a buttery voice is sposed to sound like, but you get the idea.) He is very humble, sweet when he chats, and then opens up and pours himself into each "power ballad". I really love coming to Criss's shows, the crowd seems to feel the same way! His group is growing steadily, so take a chance and catch a set soon, it is an hour well spent. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hey it's Wednesday, and it is the grand re-opening of The Kasbah! So I took my happy self over there as soon as I logged in. I was lucky enough to catch PM Bookmite singing a few amazing covers. PM has been around quite awhile, but he doesn't perform as often as some SL musicians and it had been some time since I had heard him. Wow, he has such a beautiful voice! His piano playing was awesome too, and he had some really cool originals! He is currently trying to raise funds to get more of his music out there, and there is a website you can go to and check it out. http://kck.st/dw3pTi ! If hearing PM wasn't cool enough, Genevieve Silvercloud, an awesome artist both in and out of SL, was painting on live video during the entire opening! It was a fun time, the Kasbah was rockin!!! Tessa's Take

Hello! It's Tuesday, in case anyone forgot, and it was a special DAYTIME edition of The Audio Union! We had been getting so many requests for an earlier audition time, we finally gave in and set one up. We started the show off with Harrison Digfoot. He was awesome, doing a few covers and a fun new original based on SL. Everyone enjoyed Harri's time on stage and hopefully he will come back to TAU again and again! Pandora Breadbin was up next, I had never heard her perform, so I was looking forward to it. She has a sweet voice and sang some favorite classics. The crowd was cheering her on! It was a great 15 minutes and I look forward to catching a full set soon! Coming in just before the wire, Turner Harbrough took the stage. He was his upbeat, fun self, singing some of his best covers. The crowd was very vocal about how much they enjoyed Turners music and I think many of us secretly hoped he would just keep singing! We waved goodbye to Turner and Welcomed Cranston Yordstorm to the TAU stage. Cranston sang some really great covers, showtunes, rock classics and even the theme from True Blood! His 15 minutes rocked and we look forward to having Cranston and all the performers today back at TAU soon! Thank you to the many venue's represented today, thank you to the musicians and thank you to Kimmie and Rusty, they make TAU what it is! Tessa's Take

Good Morning and Happy Monday! I woke up early this morning and thought I would check in on SL. I'm glad I did! My friend CraigLyons Writer had sent me an IM with a link to his new music video. The video premiered Saturday night in SL, I was there for the unveiling. While the concept was awesome, due to severe lag, I, and many others were unable to see the video clearly. This video, created by a major international collaborative, is based on the Beatles song, Across The Universe. I hope you take a few minutes to check it out, the video is awesome, the message even more so. What the cast and crew were able to accomplish is mind boggling! So have a look, here's the link! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw5iwrEOBRg For some reason I can't make it a link, so copy and paste into your browser! Tessa's Take

It's Sunday night and a great night in SL music! I logged in just in time to catch Max Kleene performing at Bay City. You all know Max, he was awesome! Harrison Digfoot was up next and he thrilled us with some great covers and a really fun new original! Catch these guys whenever you can! I was just about to hit search when I got a TP to another show. It was Lovesmiley Gumshoe, a musician who makes rare appearances in SL to perform. Let me tell you, if you have the opportunity, go to this guys show! His original songs are off the charts good and his voice, well, Ladies....let's just say you don't want to miss this one! He played well over, sharing his amazing talent with us! Keep your eyes peeled for Lovesmiley Gumshoe, he is worth the wait! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Good Morning! I had a really crazy day yesterday and didn't find my way to the blog before my eyes closed for the night. I'm sorry about that, but, I'm here now, and ready to tell you about the awesome show I caught late last night! Rara Destiny was performing at The Crow Bar, a really fun venue that sadly was closing it's doors after last nights shows. I arrived just as Rara was taking the stage, her chat and giggles almost as entertaining as her music. She comes to SL from Australia and her accent only adds to her charm. The crowd was filled with some familiar faces and some new ones, all eager to hear some great music. Rara sings with a sensual voice, making each song her own. Her trademark song, the one she calls the, "tip the venue song", Warm Whispers, is nothing short of incredible. We had the pleasure of hearing it twice last night, the first time she asked the audience to tip each other and the second time for the venue. Rara has a really great personality, full of fun, making her shows enjoyable time after time. I hope you find the chance to catch one of her shows soon, you'll thank me later! Tessa's Take

It's Friday night and The Sea Nymph had a rockin line up! First up was Finnegan Faith! I have written about Fin before, he is new (again) to SL music and he was spot on tonight! He was running a lil late, so when he arrived he started right in with his soulful voice. The crowd gathered to catch his 30 minute set, cheering him on with each great tune. He finished up with his usual flair, making us smile. I can honestly say we all enjoyed his set and look forward to having back again soon! At 6pm he passed the reigns to Sojurn Rossini. We didn't know it, but it was Soj's rezday! Halfway through his set someone mentioned it and we all started with the well wishes. I think Soj was more surprised then the rest of us lol. He gave us some gritty covers of the hottest in SL music. One of the coolest things about Soj is that he also broadcasts on video so you can watch him sing as well as listen. I really had a great time and at the top of the hour Soj asked if he could continue singing...who would say no lol So at this moment, 30 minutes past the hour we are all still here enjoying this wonderful musician! Happy Rezday Sojurn! Thank you for an awesome Friday night!!!Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hi My Friends, today's blog is not going to be the usual fare. I am sad to say that SL has lost someone near and dear to the music community. Doc Firecaster, a wonderful singer, songwriter and musician was taken from us Wednesday morning. While performing in SL Tuesday he became ill and was taken to the hospital. Sadly, he didn't come home. I met Doc at The Audio Union, where he dazzled us all with his soulful voice and musical talents. I had the pleasure of speaking with him several times and found him to be one of the nicest people in my SL. His beloved, KatRose Serendipity, has sent out a notecard to his friends and fans and she is planning a memorial for him at her venue, The Kat Rose Secret Garden of Live Music, if you would like to pay your respects. In time, she will have a vendor with his music and all proceeds will go to a memorial fund so the cd he dreamed of making , and sent her artwork for is produced in RL. She asks that we help her keep Doc's music alive in our hearts.

Tessa's Take

Happy Over The Hump Day! I spent a lot of time in RL today and I was worried about having someone to blog about tonight. I needn't have worries, as I have wonderful friends always keeping an eye out for new talent for me! Soon after logging in tonight I received a TP from a good friend to hear Idella Quandry. She was playing at The Drunken Drow, one of my favorite places. She was singing when I arrived and the first thing I noticed was the smoky quality to her voice. I really like it when I can pick the right word off the bat. She did an awesome cover of Sitting on the Dock of the Bay! She has a very relaxed style, perfect for songs like that. I checked out her profile and wow the girl has it going on! Self described as a, "Progressive blogger, musician and author Alicia Morgan -Last Left Turn Before Hooterville" She has written a book available in world and performs in SL and RL! here is the link to her blog, check it out!http://lastleftb4hooterville.blogspot.com I loved the show, as did my friends. I know she is someone to keep an eye on, so when you are looking for a good smooth listen, look up Idella! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hey There! It's Tuesday and a TAU night!!! Wow we had quite the crowd! It was great to see all the venue's represented! We started our night out with Covenant Wylder, this was his second visit with us and he didn't disappoint! He sang some very cool originals and finished off with Black Velvet, one of my favorites. He has the distinction of having sung the most songs in his 15 minutes, way to go Cov! Up after Cov was Phoenix Gerhadsen. I had never heard her before, but I had seen her name in search quite a bit. Her first song was in my top 10 old faves, Big Spender, and she rocked it! Her voice was strong and clear, and she maintained her composure even as her SL crashed, the sign of a true professional. Our third performer was unable to come so Billy Mikoyan agreed to take the slot. It was a real treat. Billy is an awesome listen! The crowd was in awe as he rocked us out, going a touch over his time, he was so into it! We waved goodbye to Billy and welcomed a new SL performer to the stage, Icky Flux. He was another surprise performer and we were so glad he could make it on such short notice. Icky sang with a sweet soft voice, entertaining us with his accent (British I think) and we were all singing along with him too! Thanks so much Icky!! Following Icky was RB Hamelin. RB has been with us before so I was anxious to hear him tonight, and I was not disappointed! He did all originals, and they were awesome to say the least! I look forward to catching more of RB's shows, he rocks! Our last performer of the night was Chapman Zane. I had the pleasure of hearing him earlier this week and was looking forward to hearing more. He gave us some really great songs and a really cute original too! I totally plan to hear him again soon. The night was a great success, we had such a wonderful turn out, thanks to all that came!

Good Morning! Monday arrived and I found myself awake and in search of some good music. It was early so the choices were limited. Then I remembered Guthries, there is always someone playing there in the mornings! True to form 6am brought JoAnn Diavolo to Guthries stage. Her first song was Stand By Me, her sweet voice with a hint of smoke made the song absolutely lovely. She is from Poland and her soft voice and cute manner made the show enjoyable. I would call her style folk based, easy to listen to. She does originals and covers and according to her profile, tours Europe regularly. I definitely enjoyed the set, here's hoping you do too! Tessa's Take

Hello Everyone! It's a gentle Sunday here on SL. I found myself at the reopening of The Hummingbird Cafe. When I arrived I was thrilled to see so many people I knew. Max Kleene was just taking the stage. It turns out the Hummingbird was the first show he ever did way back when. It was nice to hear the nostalgia in his voice as he sang some of the songs he sang that first day. It was a wonderful half hour. Following Max was one of the owners of The Hummingbird, DimiVan Ludwig. I had never heard him play and it was quite a treat. He sang beautifully but what touched me the most was how he talked of the old Cafe, his friends and the prospects for the new place. His love for SL music and The Hummingbird in particular were so evident in his voice, his songs and his manner. I was touched and honored to have been here. Keep an eye out for Dimi and shows at The Hummingbird, I think you will be pleased. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Good Afternoon My Friends! I had RL today, why do we constantly have to go there? I should write a blog about that sometime lol. Anyway, when I logged in I checked the search listings, as I always do, and a name jumped out at me, Buckley Moonwall. I am sure many, if not all of you have been to a Buckley show, but I just had to write about it today. When you go to see a Buckley show the first thing you notice is his amazing musical ability, the second thing you notice is his soft spoken manner. You just know he is the kind of guy to take his hat off indoors and to stand for a lady on the bus. He sang some of the coolest covers today, but my favorite was his original Buckley Sue! Oh gosh, he makes a whole deal of it, acting all emotional before beginning the song, and then he starts to sing about his sad childhood....and his dad...and you are sooo hooked, request the song, you won't be sorry! I loved it! Buckley puts on a great show, he has been getting some attention in RL (yeah I know) and you better catch him quick, he's on the rise! Wooohooo it's Friday! I can't be happier that the weekend has arrived! Tonight was a Sea Nymph night, and we had a rockin show! First up at 7pm was Harrison Digfoot. If you have read my blog you have already heard of Harri, if not....look him up :-) He played a rockin guitar and omg the harmonica! The crowd grew with each song and we danced a blue streak! I really liked the covers he chose tonight and he was his usual soft spoken self between songs. Thank you Harrison for an awesome show! At 8pm Maximillion Kleene took the stage for an hour of perfection. The crowd reached epic proportions for The Sea Nymph, so many people there I doubt I greeted them all! Max sang all of our favorite tunes including one for me, I Don't Want To Lose You Yet. We all had a blast dancing and chatting, it was a great night aboard ship! Thanks Max! Check back aboard the Nymph next week for Finnegan Faith and Sojurn Rossini!!Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take

Hey Everyone! I took a break from SL music for the most part today to enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation. I thought I would just name a few people from past blogs you should keep your eye out for. So, here goes, Turner Harbrough, Cranston Yordstorm, Finnegan Faith, Mapoo Little, Lexie Luan, Kiaranne Flanagan, Taunter Goodnight, Maximillion Kleene, Harper Messmer, Digby Smalls, Phoenix Galdonaldo, Harrison Digfoot, Raspbury Rearwin and Criss Fredriksson. There are many more to check out, and I will resume my search of the grid tomorrow. Take some time to check these wonderful talented people out, and if you do, let me know about it, drop me a line, send me an IM or just make a comment here on the blog. Hope your travels are amazing! Tessa's Take!

Well People, tonight was one for the books. I was on hand for the debut of an awesome new SL vocalist! His name is Criss Fredriksson, and he rocked the house tonight! The crowd that gathered was in for a special treat when Criss took the stage. He spoke in a soft voice, gentle even, and then he began to sing and OMG the boy can sing!!! He hails from Chile and has an awesome accent that in itself was fun to hear. His covers of The Eagles, Crowded House , Simply Red , Journey, Foreigner, John Waite , Poison, Restless Heart, Jimmy Harnen and Mr. Big were right on target and his final song, Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman, was incredible. He sang with such feeling, I think everyone there was touched. I guarantee you will enjoy his sound, so look him up in search and catch a show soon! Might even catch me there! Tessa's Take!

What a gorgeous day it is today! I wanted to give everyone a heads up on the soon to be released Imagine Magazine's 3rd edition. Some of you may know, I have begun to write for the music section of the magazine, and this month I was honored to be able to do an interview with CraigLyons Writer. It was my first ever interview and though I was nervous, I think it went pretty well. Craig is very environmentally conscious and it was great to learn a little about his motivations and goals. I hope you get the chance to check out the magazine upon it's release and look out for Craig's newest video release due out May 1st! Tessa's Take!

Monday is here! I was so busy this weekend, so today I decided I would relax and just enjoy the day. Then my friend Loegan said, "Go hear Adrienne Deezul" What was I going to say, no? Of course not, so off I went to The Pond Venue. The first thing that struck me was the awesome strings this girl plays. Her talent does not end there though. She also has an amazingly edgy and deep voice. It was such a change from the typical SL fare and I really enjoyed it. She did covers of Billy Idol and Alanis Morrisette that were just dead on awesome! Her originals were gritty and hot, it was an excellent listen! I think you will definitely enjoy an hour with Adrienne, but catch her early, she lives in Germany, so her shows are typically SL morning and early afternoon. Tessa's Take!

What a nice Sunday afternoon! I have been working nonstop this weekend, so when my good friend Joonie asked if I wanted to hear some nice folk music, I said YES! I stopped what I was working on and took the tp. I arrived at FairChang Wharf to the sweet sound of Lyn Carlberg. Now that name is familiar to me but I couldn't say if I had heard him sing before or just saw the name come up in search. He is from Wales, and his accent is lovely. He sang some beautiful ballads, his soft clear voice was a pleasant retreat for me after the long day I had. He sang an incredibly calm version of I Want To Know What Love Is. His style is gentle and sweet, you just want to sit with that special someone and cuddle while he sings. He even wears a tag that says Folky-Mushy....It was an easy listen and I know I will do it again! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

It's Saturday night and I am standing at The Pocket listening to the tail end of an awesome concert! As I mentioned in my earlier blog, tonight there was a big RFL event being held here. Tyrehl Byk put on an awesome particle show for a packed house. We all had to remove AO's and scripted items to try and reduce lag. The show was a huge hit! Everyone was in awe, I personally have seen the show at least five times and it was still so amazing. When the show ended we all made our way to a platform where we donned parachutes with various types of particle emitters. We all took turns jumping off, floating thru the air, particles trailing behind us. It was a total blast! When everyone landed Maximillion Kleene and Raspbury Rearwin took the stream and entertained us for the next hour with some really fun songs and playful banter. The little white kiosks were buzzing as everyone tossed their spare lindens in to help fund cancer research. It was a show well worth the lag, and a cause worth our help.
I think everyone there enjoyed it, and lots of lindens were raised for RFL!!

Good Afternoon! The Live music scene explodes today as it does every weekend with tons of awesome shows every hour. None of us can possibly make it to all of them, nor should we try, but there is one show I know I will be attending and I want to tell you about it. Tonight at 8pm SL time Maximillion Kleene and Tyrehl Byk will be doing an awesome event to benefit RFL. At 8 Tyrehl will be performing his incredible Particle Phantasmagora Performance. If you have not had the chance to attend one of these amazing particle shows, now is the time to do it. Immediately following the show Max will be taking the stream and Tyrehl will be passing out particle parachutes to all. This promises to be the largest mass particle parachute jump in SL history! Everyone will land at The Pocket, a great Live Music venue here in SL, to enjoy an hour of the Superb song stylings of Maximillion Kleene. RFL kiosks will be placed all around for your donations. I don't normally tell of upcoming events in SL, but when something special like this is going to happen, I want all my friends to know about it! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Good Morning! It's a beautiful day in SL, as it always is, and I am sipping something warm as I write. Yesterday was a busy one for me, a very good thing, and by the time I made it to my last show of the night I was exhausted. I waited til this morning to write about my good friend Raspbury's show, so that I could give it the attention it deserves without my bed calling to me...loudly, I might add lol. Raspbury Rearwin has been involved with SL music for a good long while. His talents include, but are not limited to, playing guitar, piano and even drums. He often switches from one instrument to another during his shows and always makes it fun. The thing I like best about Raspy is that he doesn't take himself too seriously, he is willing to do the fun songs like Genie in a Bottle, his covers are usually unique, check out his cover of The One That I want, and his originals touch people's emotions. He is an unassuming performer who every so often, at least once a show, whispers, driving the girls wild. He has a way of making his fans comfortable and enjoys the give and take from chat. I have always enjoyed Raspbury's shows and last night he sang a song just for me, sooo, of course it was my favorite so far lol. If you haven't heard him yet, or if it's been awhile, check him out, maybe I'll see you there! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Yay! It's Friday! For most of us that means the start of the weekend, I for one have been waiting for the weekend big time! I spent the day learning about the bunny industry in SL so when I got the TP to go hear Jase Branner...well, let's just say I took it and ran! Jase has been around SL for quite awhile. He has a great following of ardent fans, his soft spoken voice and easy manner keep them coming back again and again. I arrived at the Truthball Cafe to Jase's gentle voice singing a Blue Rodeo cover. He did a great job on it, but what is so cool about Jase is that right after, he did a Johnny Cash song...how many performers can transition like that? Jase has a way of chuckling between songs and chatting with the audience that makes everyone feel relaxed. He is a people pleaser and when a song is requested he hasn't learned yet, he does his best to accommodate with one he does know, all the while keeping that soft demeanor, you just know he is smiling. I have enjoyed every set I have had the pleasure to catch and I'm sure you will too. Check him out, you'll be glad you did. Check the player soon for one of Jase's songs too! Tessa's Take! on Carmel and KatRose aboard Sea Nymph

It's Thursday! To be more specific, the third Thursday of the month and that means Carmel Daines and KatRose Serendipity live aboard The Sea Nymph! Carmel arrived early, dressed in the prettiest frock, she just looked like spring. Her lovely voice was in rare form tonight. The audience steadily grew as she sang and by the time she was halfway through her set we had a nice crowd. Carmel has a very unique mix of new and old songs peppered with really cool originals. She chatted with the audience in her easy way and a great time was had by all! KatRose was up next, taking the stage with her usual flair. I have been to many of Kat's shows and I always hear something new. She sang some fun songs, told some really cute stories and just generally enjoyed herself as we enjoyed her performance. Kat's voice is deep and throaty and lends itself perfectly to the songs she chooses. I look forward to seeing both these wonderful musicians back with us next month! Tessa's Take! on Harper Messmer

Happy Wednesday! I had a very busy morning in RL, that weird place we sometimes find ourselves, and only found my way back to SL late this afternoon. I was just finishing up my closet surfing when I got a TP from a friend to go to WiseGuys to hear Harper Messmer. I don't know about you, but, I am not about to pass up an opportunity to hear Harper. I have been listening to him for a long time now, ever since I was TP'd to one of his welcome back shows amidst about 60 adoring fans. He is still drawing them in all these months later. I really like the style he has, so laid back, so smooth. Someone once said to me, "doesn't he have the smoothest voice...hear it?" I have to say, yes, yes he does. His song list is full of so many tried and true favorites, but he mixes in some unique covers and really beautiful originals. A Harper Messmer show is guaranteed to be entertaining, his soft spoken manner, anecdotes and between song chats are fun, and you can hear the mirth in his voice when he talks of TP wars LOL. If for some odd reason you have not heard him, or if you are new to the SL music scene I highly recommend you check him out. SL music wouldn't be the same without him. Tessa's Take!

Hey Everyone! Guess what tonight was? That's right it was a TAU night!!! The Audio Union opened it's doors (well, we have no doors but you know what I mean) for another great lineup! The group grew slowly but midway through we had a rockin crowd. First up was Cabernet Oliveiri. I had the chance to hear Cabernet's cd earlier this month and it was great so I was excited to hear him live. He did an awesome 15 minutes, I think everyone enjoyed it. TerryLynn Melody took the stage next and performed three of her original tunes including my favorite, Here Comes Trouble. She has such a cool style and sang with so much emotion, it was an awesome set. The third musician was unable to attend so thankfully Takezau Abbot was in the audience and he agreed to fill in. What an awesome fill in! We all enjoyed his time on stage and look forward to seeing him again soon! Ariel Franchini was up next and was in superb form. We rocked to his tunes and sadly waved goodbye as his 15 minutes ended. AJ REYES was up next and gave us some interesting covers and a first ever performed original tune. We were so lucky to be the first to hear it. Thanks AJ! Next up was the awesome Music Oxygen. He rendered us speechless with his beautiful strumming and soft sweet voice. Needless to say, the crowd was relaxed and calmed by his lovely song stylings. Last but not least was Jukebox Diesel. I had never heard Juke before and I was told by some of the audience that he was awesome. They were right! I enjoyed the 15 minutes and made a mental note to check a full set of his soon! Well, thats the rundown on TAU for tonight, look for a regular blog tomorrow, and catch some of these awesome musicians in your music travels. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Yay it's Monday! Ok, Monday sucks, I know, but the best we can do is travel the grid and find some good music. I searched the various engines and caught both Turner Harbrough at Tantalus and Lexie Luan at The Edge. Two great shows. I floundered a bit after Lexie, but then, thanks to the SL Live Music group, I got a notice that EricSampson Swansong was playing in New Brighton. I took the taxi and found my way to the show. New Brighton is a great sim, worth a look even without Eric, but with Eric it was a must see. Eric is a musician who started in SL playing with CraigLyons Writer. He has recently started a solo career in SL and has been hitting the grid with force. He did a really great cover of Steal My Kisses, his voice fitting it perfectly. I found the listen very enjoyable, he was able to switch moods easily to match each song and his chat between songs was fun and friendly. Check him out, he has that certain something that will make you want to come back again and again. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Welcome to another beautiful Sunday! Lot's of shows on the grid today, and really, the choices are great! I settled on Finnegan Faith's show to start off. He was singing at The Grotto Club, a really cool venue, especially when set to midnight. Fin began right on time with some cool tunes perfect for a lazy Sunday. He has a very sexy aspect to his voice and an adorable personality. The crowd grew with each song, and every time he looked up he was surprised lol. He did an awesome rendition of Keep Bleeding, I really enjoyed it. I would definitely catch a show if I were you, he doesn't play all that often, so keep an eye out for him, maybe I'll see ya there! Tessa's Take!

Hey Boys and Girls! Something very special and exciting happened tonight. Maximillion Kleene was performing his last show of the night at The AllStars Home Expo. It was also the last show of a long and wonderful all day event featuring some of SL's best performers. Relay For Life was the charity of the day. Towards the end of his set, Max decided he was going to continue to play until the goal of one million linden was reached. He began calling on his friends. Awesome SL musicians Stella Silvansky and Raspbury Rearwin were rehearsing when they got the "call" and quickly agreed to join in. Soon two more fantastic SL'ers were streaming too, Beth Odets and Harper Messmer. Five wonderful people, pitching in for Relay For Life. When all was said and done, the fab five raised over one million lindens in a marathon of music! Let's hear it for these guys and their commitment to RFL and the community! Tessa's Take!

Guess what! It's Friday!!! I don't know about you but I am thrilled for this week to end! I had scheduled some live music for The Sea Nymph and of course that meant I would be there tonight. The first act cancelled and I frantically tried to find a replacement earlier this week. Thanks to Lingual Markus I was able to schedule TerryLynn Melody for the 5pm hour. She was so friendly and sweet, and to even make things better, she brought in an awesome harmonica player, Dixon Picket, to accompany her. The show was great! It really felt like we were all sitting in her living room enjoying some good, down home music. Her mom was in the audience, her fans were just amazing, and we all had a great time! I especially love her original Here Comes Trouble, a really cool and fun tune I have heard several times. If you get the chance, ask her what the story is behind it, was a cute listen. Check TerryLynn out soon, I might even see ya there!

At the top of the hour Shannon Oherlihy took the stage. Now, for those not familiar, Shannon is a very folksy singer with an absolutely haunting voice. Her originals are sometimes sad, often sentimental and always lovely. One of the guests aboard The Sea Nymph tonight commented on how you just had to slow dance when listening to Shannon as her sweet tones and gentle manner were perfect for that style of dance. While Shannon performs covers and has an extensive song list, it is her originals that bring people back again and again. If you have some time and want to hear the beauty of words sung with heartfelt meaning, check Shannon out. I think you will be glad you did. Tessa's Take!

Hey Guys! It's Thursday, in case anyone has forgotten, that means just one more sleep til the weekend! I thought you would be excited lol. SL has a lot to offer in the live music scene today. Each hour is chock full of names, making it hard to choose where to go. I decided to hit a few names that were new to me. My first stop was Tranquil Commons to hear Kiaranne Flanagan. What a pretty voice she has! She was singing an original when I arrived, very folk based and sweet. She says in her profile she is "Creator of stuff, artist, musician, singer, songwriter, accoustic guitarist." Her cover of Annie's Song was absolutely beautiful. She does a very relaxing set, I found myself feeling quite a bit calmer just from being there. I enjoyed the set and I think you might too, so give her a listen :-)Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Happy over the hump day! Wednesday's are always a fun day in Live Music, every musician mentions the hump day with glee...helping us all look toward the coming weekend. One of the things I love most about SL music is the energy and, well, simple pleasure the performers exude during their sets. I can't find a better example of that, than the set I just caught at Romantic Island. TJ Oanomochi was on the stage singing some of the smoothest music to soothe even the most restless of souls. Her version of Come Away With Me by Norah Jones was quite literally breathtaking. TJ sang with such emotion, her passion for performing clearly evident. I scanned her profile and learned she is a professional RL singer. Her profile was very understated compared to her bio and write ups. She has performed with some of RL's best and continues to tour, bringing her soulful voice to SL when she is able. She was fun, bubbly and very friendly during her set. I thoroughly enjoyed her style and plan on catching her again soon! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

It's a beautiful Tuesday morning and I am feeling very thankful. So, I wanted to take a moment and thank the wonderful SL musicians and vocalists who have helped me get the word out about my blog. First is my dear friend Max Kleene, not only did he immediately offer me his support, he also took the step to follow my blog, and gave me the opportunity to post the URL during his shows. He was the very first to give me a song to add to the player. Thank you Max, you're the absolute best! Next is Raspbury Rearwin, he provided me with tech support (everyone knows how much I needed that lol) and 2 beautiful songs, thanks sweet Raspy! Mapoo Little, a new friend, was so excited about the blog she posted the URL to her groups AND put it on her myspace, thanks so much Mapoo!! A special thanks to the amazing artists who gave me their music to add to the player, AMFORTE Clarity, Digby Smalls, Cranston Yordstorm, Taunter Goodnight, Jazzman Correia and Phoenix Galdonaldo! Last but not least I want to thank my friend Turner Harbrough, he was the vocalist I first blogged about, the first person I showed the blog to, and without his enthusiasm I may have just stopped right there. Turner makes a point of telling his audiences about the blog every time I attend a show and for that I am truly grateful. I have received such kind words and such support from my friends, Thank you to Joonie who has been telling me to start a blog for months, thanks to Lady and Patrick who have given me so much support and who spread the word daily about the blog, thank you to Adelle who visits the blog often for the awesome tunes, thank you to all the people kind enough to click follow and to all of you that visit. Tessa's Take!

It's Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, I know I did. I signed into SL early today for a meeting, fortunately the meeting was postponed and I had some free time. I scanned search and found the choices pretty slim, I ventured to a few places where karaoke seemed to be the theme of the day, until I found my way to Club Atlantic. Taunter Goodnight was onstage, and while she is admittedly a track singer, she is far from your typical karaoke singer. She was covering a Jason Mraz song when I arrived, her deep and powerful voice did justice to the song, but then she did an Alanis Morrisette song and WOW, she really captured the emotions and edge of the song. I know Taunter has been around for awhile, but so have I and I had never been to one of her shows....sooo I thought there might be others who have passed on this engaging vocalists sets for whatever reason. She gave her all to her performance, mixing in comical quips and anecdotes between songs. I really enjoyed the show, I hope you guys get the chance to enjoy as well! Secret....ask her to do The Rose....you won't be sorry. :-) Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Happy Holiday Everyone! The bunny arrived at my house this afternoon bearing eggs and candy and mashed potatoes. My mom sure looked cute in those bunny ears :-) My family and I enjoyed a wonderful day together and now, it's time to relax, and never eat again lol.I hope to find some great shows tonight, and if I do, you know I will tell you about them. So here's to hoping your day was as sweet as mine and to good music and fine wine. Ok, so I had a few sips already, it's a holiday :-)Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Well, as I mentioned, I was going to hit some shows tonight. First stop was a Maximillion Kleene show, awesome as usual. Just as the show ended, all too soon might I add, my friend Joonie Jatho invited me to McKinney's Distillery to hear Covenant Wylder. McKinney's is an awesome newish venue with a really friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. I arrived to plenty of hello's and Cov singing a great rendition of Danny's Song. Covenant is new to the SL music scene and it was really nice to get the chance to hear him. I enjoyed his originals, he has a kind of down-home style, I could so picture him sitting on his front porch crooning away. I look forward to watching Cov grow into the SL music scene, check him out, and ask to hear Black Velvet, he rocks it! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Hey Guys! Happy Saturday! I just wanted to take a moment to bring your attention to the various Relay For Life events happening in the Live Music arena. Many wonderful SL musicians are donating their time and music to this very important cause. They don't charge for their time and also donate all their tips to cancer research. Some of these musicians can be found donating time and tips over and over. RFL is in full swing now, make it a priority to get to at least one of these events before they end and donate what you can. It really is true that every little bit helps. Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Today is going to be very busy, lots of shows to catch lol. I started the evening at Sunray Beach for a Cranston Yordstorm show. Turner Harbrough suggested I have a listen, and I am glad he did. Cranston does a great swing set, and it sounds like he has an entire band backing him. I enjoyed the upbeat tunes and his energy was contagious! I was particularly taken with his version of Brandy, one of my all time favorite old tunes. I checked out his profile and learned that he does primarily Jazz, swing and blues, but I heard him sing much more than that, he even did a Monkey's tune lol! The other thing I learned from his profile is that he makes his living from SL Live Music...That's really cool! I had a great time, if you are into a fun time with a variety of styles and a great easy voice, check out Cranston! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

It's Friday! Last night I had the opportunity to watch rockstars in the making! I caught the gReefers show at Bring a Friend Stay Awhile. What a show! The four fab musicians making up the band are Max Kleene on guitar and vocals, Ictus Belford on bass, Thunder Lexington on drums and Allister Westland on lead guitar. These guys relay stream, that means they are all in different places, two in Canada and two in the US, and their streams are sent through the channels till the four streams are broadcast as one. The really incredible thing is that the musician with the first stream can't hear anyone else and each musician can only hear the person behind them on the stream. What the audience hears is all the musicians at the same time, how they keep it all in sync is just baffling. These guys get together and practice, add songs as often as they can and do their best to entertain. Last nights show was off the charts awesome! The crowd was so excited, the band members were in total Rockstar form, leading off with a couple Floyd tunes and then slowing it down with their breathtaking rendition of Harvest Moon, before rocking out the night. The guys graciously took us well past the hour, and even then, fans were begging for more. The band won't play again til April 22nd so mark your calendars and catch the gReefers show, you won't be sorry. I'll see ya there! Thank you for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time...Tessa1 Beck

Tessa's Take!

Happy April everyone! Today is that notoriously naughty day where everyone tries to fool each other. My mother, the dear sweet thing, has called me twice with wild stories about lost theatre tickets and crazed green haired siblings. I was going to do a few write ups today but I figure, it's April Fools day, who will believe me today lol. So have a wonderful day and back to the music blogs tomorrow. Tessa's Take!

Hello Friends! RL can sometimes get so hectic, ya know? So, when I finally logged into SL all I wanted was to hear something soft, and sweet and gentle. My first two attempts were fruitless no shows, then I saw a name I recognized, Phoenix Galdonaldo. I arrived just in time for some mellow, relaxing tunes. I was thrilled, exactly what I needed to recover from my RL woes. Phoenix sang some beautiful originals and an incredibly gentle version of Everlong by The Foo Fighters. His easy manner and enchanting voice made the events of my morning float off into the distant past and brought me to a more settled and happy place. You can bet I am going to ask Phoenix for a sample of his music to add to the player and I'll be sure to catch another show soon! Maybe I'll see you there! Thanks for peeking at Tessa's Take....until next time....Tessa1 Beck.
